Bill Lucas brings 21 years of experience in stormwater management design experience for new construction and urban retrofits to Forester University. Lucas wrote Delaware’s Green Technology Manual, and is co-chair of the LID Computations and the CSO-LID Task Committees of the ASCE/EWRI. Lucas has developed state of the art watershed models in several states. Lucas’ rigorous approach to modeling bioretention systems was used to confirm the SWMM model developed for Philadelphia Green Infrastructure. Based on his doctoral research into nutrient retention in bioretention systems, Lucas developed an advanced bioretention system to optimize phosphorus and nitrogen removal from runoff. Originally described in a series of four published papers, this work was awarded two patents. Pilot and field scale systems are now under way in rigorous testing programs in six states and three nations.
