COURSE DESCRIPTION

Improve your stormwater reduction through effective low impact design (LID). Join Douglas Beyerlein, P.E., P.H., D.WRE to explore the different types of LID (e.g., green roofs, rain gardens / bioretention, impervious runoff dispersion, etc.), how they work to reduce stormwater, and why they work differently in different climates and soils.

Why are some types of LID more effective in reducing stormwater than others? What LIDs work best in different climates? And what works best in different soils?

Join Douglas Beyerlein, P.E., P.H., D.WRE, co-founder of Clear Creek Solutions, to discuss the different types of low impact design (LID), and how each reduces stormwater runoff volume. Through an exploration of the different types of LID (including green roofs, rain gardens / bioretention, impervious runoff dispersion, and permeable pavement) and their performance in different climates and soils, Beyerlein will discuss why some types of LID are more effective in reducing stormwater than others and how evapotranspiration and native soil infiltration rates play important roles in determining LID effectiveness. Through this discussion, Beyerlein will conclude with an exploration of what LIDs work best in different climates and soils, and the appropriate techniques and tools used to model LID stormwater runoff.
