Stormwater 2-for-1 Special: Advanced Treatment And Compliance

Course 1 - Advanced Stormwater Treatment for Construction, Industrial, and Remediation Projects

As stormwater standards become more challenging to meet, stormwater professionals need to develop a better understanding of the Advanced Treatment System (ATS) industry and the applications thereof.

Join Forester University and returning presenter/industrial stormwater expert Nathan Hardebeck, Principal of CWT, LLC, for this on-demand webcast providing a high-level overview of the ATS industry— which can be defined as treatment that uses flocculation, ab/adsorption, ion exchange, or a combination of these methods to treat stormwater, groundwater, process water, and wastewater.

This course focuses on the implementation of both passive and active treatment, primarily on the west coast. It provides an overview of the ATS industry and details how chemical flocculation, medias, and other techniques are utilized on construction, industrial, and remediation sites.

Learning Objectives

Attendees can expect the discussion and education of the following learning objectives.

  • Explore the ATS industry, including both passive and active technologies used in construction, industrial, and municipal stormwater as well as in both groundwater and remediation
  • Learn about implementation and regulatory use considerations
  • Understand when and why ATS is applied to stormwater management projects
  • Discover various different flocculants and media
  • Receive an overview of equipment and operation
  • Receive an overview of basin design

Course 2 - Industrial Stormwater Management: Keeping Up With Compliance

With growing water quality concerns, NPDES permits for industry are asking more and more of facilities to ensure stormwater discharges are not polluting receiving waters. Not only are programs regulating water quality standards constantly changing, but an increasing number of citizen groups are actively ensuring permit requirements are met.

How can you achieve compliance and stay off of citizen groups’ lawsuit radar?

Join industrial stormwater program expert Nathan Hardebeck as he analyzes the fundamental components of an Industrial Stormwater or Multi-Sector General Permit and how to develop and maintain a comprehensive (and cost-effective) program in compliance with changing regulations at your facility.

Specifically, this on-demand webcast identifies and breaks down the elements of a stormwater management program for an industrial operation, the considerations that go into developing and implementing a cost-effective program, and the practical steps and decision processes required to meet and maintain regulatory requirements. Within this discussion, we go in-depth into stormwater sampling, monitoring, and BMP selection criteria to assist the most seasoned engineers and consultants. We also overview the necessary elements of paperwork such as the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), Spill Prevention and Emergency Cleanup Plans, and site maps.

Learning Objectives

Attendees can expect the discussion and education of the following learning objectives.

  • Identify permit requirements and the policy drivers of industrial stormwater management.
  • Understand the required elements, development, and implementation of a SWPPP.
  • Explore the fundamentals of a stormwater sampling plan, including monitoring and reporting.
  • Learn how to develop and implement a Spill Prevention and Emergency Cleanup Plan at your facility.
  • Identify the BMPs for industrial site management, including operational, structural, and treatment considerations.

* Presentations are scheduled for approximately one hour with a 15-20 minute question and answer session to follow. Presentation may exceed scheduled time.
