A to Z: Low Impact Development and Permeable Pavers

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Sponsored by: TRUEGRID Pavers

With more extreme weather, frequent heavy rain events, and tragic flood damage, the paradigm has changed for site development. Traditional stormwater management methods using impervious concrete or asphalt combined with underlying pipes and detention ponds are costly and often ineffective. Strained and overburdened city systems cannot handle the deluge of runoff created by impervious development. Fortunately, now, eco-friendly LID methods are being used that infiltrate, detain, filter, and store stormwater with zero runoff. These new methods enable balancing pre-development and post-development runoff to mimic a site’s natural, pre-developed hydrology.

Join Barry Stiles, Founder & CEO of TrueGrid Permeable Pavers, Chris White, P.E., and Forester University for a free live webinar on Low Impact Development (LID) construction, the mega-trend that cities across the USA are using to expand and develop.

This course will review LID goals and principles and how to best achieve them. It will offer an overview of permeable pavements, particularly plastic permeable grid systems and how they help achieve LID goals.

Learning Objectives

  • Define Low Impact Development, it’s goals and the environmental benefits of LID Best Management Practices
  • Identify multiple benefits of sub-base stormwater detention realized with plastic permeable grid paver systems
  • Compare permeable pavements with regard to performance, applications and cost
  • Illustrate how plastic permeable grid systems can be used to achieve LID goals by using project examples
