Permeable Pavement Master Class Series

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Join David Hein, P. Eng., Vice President of Transportation at Applied Research Associates and Chair of the ASCE T&DI Permeable Pavement Structural Design Committee, for a comprehensive, live and on-demand, 4-session master class series exploring the ins and outs of permeable pavement design, construction, and performance.

This Master Class Series works through the concepts, design, construction, performance, and real-world applications and studies of permeable pavement with a series of four 1-1.5 hour online presentations and Q&A sessions (4 PDH / 0.4 CEU total) focusing on the following advanced topics.

Sessions include:

  • On-Demand: Introduction to Permeable Pavement
Brush up on the basics of permeable pavements for stormwater management. This webinar explores permeable asphalt, concrete, interlocking concrete, and grid pavement key features and structural comparisons, as well as well as design, construction, and maintenance best practices, tools, and methodologies for municipal and parking area hydrologic and structural design.
  • On-Demand: Site Selection and Design of Permeable Pavement
Going beyond the basics, this webinar discusses the key elements and best practices in the selection of a suitable site and the appropriate design and construction of permeable pavements (e.g. porous asphalt, pervious concrete, permeable interlocking concrete, and grid pavements) through real-world examples of permeable pavement designs for roadways, shoulders, and parking areas.
  • On-Demand: Construction and Maintenance of Permeable Pavement
Maximize your performance! This webinar explores the construction elements that may negatively impact the performance of pavements, as well as the primary factors contributing to the long-term functional and structural performance of pavements (e.g. parking lots to highways). We’ll also discuss how to avoid potential issues to ensure the cost-effective use of your transportation investments.
  • On-Demand: Permeable Pavement Live Case Studies:  the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
This session delves into real-world permeable pavement applications and projects demonstrating permeable pavement design and construction key features and effective application through a series of the good, the bad, and the ugly case studies and photographs. Discussion will focus on the elements, applications, and maintenance designed for long-term system performance.

Learning Objectives
Attendees can expect the discussion and education of the following learning objectives.

  • Understand permeable asphalt, concrete, interlocking concrete, and grid pavement key features and structural design comparisons.
  • Learn about design, construction, and maintenance best practices, tools, and methodologies for municipal and parking area hydrological and structural design.
  • Examine common design and construction features important to the performance of permeable pavements.
  • Examine design specifications and construction activities that can improve the performance of pavements.
  • Explore design and construction applications of permeable peavements using real world examples and case study results.
