Post-Fire BMP Implementation Planning, Deployment, and Management

COURSE DESCRIPTION

It’s one thing to design post-fire mitigation solutions. It’s another story to actually put them into action. From material and labor acquisition – to design changes – to day-to-day project management, post-fire implementation can be challenging…if you don’t have a plan in place.

Join Mike Harding for the final session in our Fire & Rain: Post-Fire Erosion Control Master Class exploring immediate and long-term post-fire BMP implementation planning, deployment, and management.

In this presentation, we’ll explore what it takes to actually put post-fire best management practices (BMPs) into action. Harding will start with a look at post-fire immediate action and long-term mitigation Implementation plans, including their key elements, considerations, and concerns, and what you need to include in your Implementation Plan. We’ll walk through how to identify, estimate, and quantify implementation materials and labor, and how to plan for these within your implementation deployment and budget. Next we’ll dig into implementation scheduling and management, with a closer look at: scheduling; contractor and labor acquisition; onsite training; daily direction and management; and ongoing maintenance. Finally, we’ll discuss the importance of labor and material quantification, and how to apply this from the start to meet funding agency accountability requirements.

Learning Objectives
Attendees can expect the discussion and education of the following learning objectives:

  • Learn how to create and carryout a post-fire immediate action and long-term mitigation Implementation Plan
  • Learn how to identify and estimate the immediate and long-term implementation materials and labor
  • Learn how to schedule and manage implementation, including: scheduling, contractor / labor acquisition, onsite training, and daily direction / management
  • Learn how to properly quantify labor and materials to meet funding agency accountability requirements

Fire & Rain: Post-Fire Erosion Control Master Class Series

This is the final session in our 5-session Post-Fire Erosion Control Master Class Series which covers remediation funding; hydraulic changes in watersheds; identifying hazards and impacts; selecting post-fire BMPs; and implementing and mitigating as-builts and accountability. This master class also saves you 20%! Click here if you’d like to attend the full 5-session series instead.

* Presentations are scheduled for approximately one hour with a 15-20 minute question and answer session to follow. Presentation may exceed scheduled time.
