Temporary Erosion Control Best Management Practices - Installation & Implementation

COURSE DESCRIPTION

When designing your Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) there are several temporary best management practices to pick from, but picking the right one can be tricky. Between considering site conditions, performance goals, installation methods, and regulations…how can you assess, select, and install the right BMP for your site?

Join returning speaker and author Mike Peters to explore SWPPP erosion control BMPs; their applications, installation methods, and results; and how you can select and install the best BMPs for your site and budget.

In this presentation we'll start with the Best Management Practices (BMPs) categories within the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), their key elements, applications, and performance results. We'll walk through how to analyze and select the BMPs best suited to your site, performance goals, and budget. We'll consider the available BMP installation methods, their effectiveness, and how you select the best installation method to maximize your performance goals and fiscal value. Additionally, we'll take a look at the common real-world pitfalls in SWPPP BMP planning and installation, and discuss how to best avoid these. And finally, we'll explore the risks of BMPs in regards to the Water Quality Certification Permit Compliance, and how to best mitigate these.
