Rainwater Harvesting and Wastewater Reuse at the Community Scale


In an era of increasing high-priced and limited water resources, communities must reconsider and challenge conventional approaches to water cycle systems if they are to build an economically and environmentally sustainable environment. How can we accomplish this?

Join Paul Crabtree to explore how integrating effective rainwater harvesting design with water reuse in a water cycle strategy can offer communities an efficient system maximizing rainwater management without requiring lot-scale interventions.

In this webcast Crabtree will discuss rainwater harvesting design that goes beyond the building and lot-scales to accomplish high degrees of rainwater management (without requiring lot-scale interventions). We’ll start with a discussion of available water cycle analysis methodologies at the community scale, explore the applications for a dual pipe delivery system, and discuss rainwater harvesting design at the community scale. Additionally, we’ll walk through several case studies of successful integrations of rainwater harvesting with wastewater re-use at the community scale.

Through discussion of water cycle analysis, we’ll explore the magnitudes of efficiencies that can be obtained by integrating water reuse and harvesting. And finally, through discussion of the case studies, Crabtree will demonstrate how excellent urban design coupled with viable green infrastructure engineering results in human environments that are efficient, lovable, sustainable, and resilient.
